Next Wednesday, April 29, Pivô, in partnership with the City of Salvador, presents the second guided visit to Ladeira da Misericórdia. This session welcomes guest speakers Tania Scofield, architect and urban planner and president of Fundação Mário Leal Ferreira (FMLF), and Vagner Rocha, Director of Cultural Heritage and Facilities at Fundação Gregório de Mattos (FGM). Historical contextualization will be led by architect and researcher Dilton de Almeida.
Visit #2 takes as its starting point the 40+ anniversary celebrations of Fundação Gregório de Mattos (FGM), a milestone that coincides, not by chance, with the 40th anniversary of the project by Lina Bo Bardi and João Filgueiras Lima (Lelé) for Ladeira da Misericórdia. Register here.
The visit is open and free of charge and is currently aimed at researchers and individuals interested in urban history, memory, and territory. Capacity is limited due to access conditions and restrictions related to ongoing renovation works carried out by the City of Salvador. Participants, selected on a first-come, first-served basis, will receive confirmation by email.
The meeting will center on a discussion on the requalification of urban centers through culture, connecting the historical formulation of the revitalization plan for Salvador’s Historic Center in the 1980s with the perspectives of policymakers currently working in cultural and urban policy in the city.
