Rua Boulevard Suíço, 11A, Nazaré - Salvador (BA)
Pivô Salvador invites you to the Public Program with Milena Ferreira and Marcos da Matta on Friday, June 6, starting at 6pm.
The artists will come together to share their experiences in the Artist Residency and Exchange Program at the Centro Cultural do Cariri Sérvulo Esmeraldo, in Ceará, through the Pivô Conexão modality.
The meeting seeks to provide an attentive listen to the investigations, processes and artistic developments developed by both during the residency period, reflecting on the territorial, affective and political crossings that mobilized their practices in the context of Cariri.
The space for exchange between the artists, based on the possible transits between the recôncavo of Bahia, the sertão of Ceará and the coast of Salvador, seeks to strengthen links between residency experiences and localized artistic production, building bridges between different landscapes and imaginaries of the Northeast.
During the residency, Milena Ferreira (1992, Salvador) – a visual artist and master’s student in the Postgraduate Program in Visual Arts at UFBA – developed the proposal “Carne do Ceará”, integrating graphic practice with the process of bioconstruction to reflect on the relationship between architecture, urbanism and identity in Cariri.
While Marcos da Matta (1989, Conceição do Almeida) – visual artist and member of the artist group Práticas Desobedientes – continued his research “Correria”, in which he investigates the daily lives of street workers, exploring not only their material conditions, but also their affective, spiritual and psychological sustenance.
