From 4pm to 8pm
Pivô Boulevard welcomes the workshop Correspondentes Postais Brasil–Japão (Brazil–Japan Postal Correspondence) on July 16 and 17, proposed by the Gabinete de Investigação de Desenho (GID). Led by artists Iansã Negrão, Lia Cunha and Pedro Alban, the activity is free and open to the public. Register via the online form.
The workshop is part of a series of activities developed by the artists in the cities of Osaka and Okayama, Japan, during May and June this year, as part of the Cultural Mobility Grant. The project is coordinated and produced by Flotar, managed by Omi Plataforma, with local support from Kowada Plataforma, and curated by Juci Reis and Natsuko Okazaki.
During the workshop, participants will be invited to create visual responses to the message-memories produced in Japan, continuing this poetic correspondence. Activities will unfold through rituals, exercises and experimental propositions developed by GID. The event will also feature a culinary activation by Gyo.zas, a project by Cacá Faria, presenting handmade Asian-Bahian cuisine prepared at a slow pace.

In 2017, she was nominated for Best Art Direction / Graphic Design at the Latin Grammy Awards for her work with the group Pirombeira.
**Iansã Negrão** is a visual artist, designer, and mother. She graduated in Journalism from Facom/UFBA and directed her practice toward image-making. She worked as art editor at *A Tarde* newspaper, receiving six awards from the Society for News Design between 2010 and 2012. She also developed illustrations, diagrams, and editorial design projects for *Folha de São Paulo*, *Estado de São Paulo*, and publications by Editora Abril.
As art editor at *Correio*, she received awards for Best Cover of the Year, Best Weekend Redesign Project, and gold, silver, and bronze distinctions in page design at ÑH18 and ÑH19, the Ibero-American division of the Society for News Design.
In 2016, she joined the editorial board of Blade, a publishing initiative dedicated to exploring print possibilities through Risograph technology, and became part of the curatorial team of Pedra Papel e Tesouro, an art, landscape, and print fair in Salvador, where she also designed the project’s graphic materials. She was part of the studios Quimera and Santo Design and currently works as a creator at Grida. She lives and works between Salvador and São Félix.
**Pedro Alban** is a visual artist and architect. His research focuses on the universe of construction and its practical and subjective processes — material flows, ecological implications, and questions of memory. The experience of being the last person to enter buildings before they cease to exist — acting as the final threshold between rescue and disposal — informs his recent work.
Selected projects include participation in the São Paulo International Architecture Biennial (2019, 2022) and the Ibero-American Architecture Biennial (2022), where he was a finalist; the solo exhibitions *Contracorpos* (2019) and *Notícias de Lugar Nenhum*; and participation in the 64th Bahia Visual Arts Salon with the work *Todo Material é Memória, Todo Resíduo também* (2022).
He is co-author of the book *Cincotrês* (2022) and led the workshop *Território Material* at the Tomie Ohtake Institute (2024). Between 2017 and 2022, he was part of the collective Mouraria 53, which occupied and renovated a ruin in Salvador’s historic center using remains from more than 60 demolitions across the city.
Since 2020, together with Natália Lessa and Fernanda Veiga, he has coordinated A Arquivo, a project dedicated to facilitating and expanding the reuse of materials in architecture.
