On Friday, July 24, at 7 pm, Pivô Boulevard hosts a film screening featuring El Lado Quieto (2021, 70 min), directed by artists Carolina Fusilier and Miko Revereza, current residents of the space.
The screening takes place in the Pivô Boulevard studio and establishes a connection between Pivô and Cinema Antena, a community cinema project founded by the artists in San Agustín Etla (Oaxaca, Mexico), dedicated to creating spaces for gathering, reflection, and the circulation of film productions.
In El Lado Quieto, a marine creature emerges after traveling along an ocean current from the Philippines to the Mexican Pacific coast — the same route that once carried Spanish galleons to the region. The film explores the landscape of Capaluco, an island that was once a busy tourist destination and is now abandoned by human presence, investigating its ruins through the sounds that continue to echo from its loudspeakers.
Moving between documentary and science fiction, the film questions the models of development that have transformed Latin American territories and the socioeconomic structures that sustain the exploitation of landscapes and other forms of life, while imagining possible futures for these spaces in decay.
Created by Fusilier and Revereza, Cinema Antena operates from a microcinema in Oaxaca, hosting weekly screenings and guest-curated programs that bring together works from Latin America, Southeast Asia, and other regions of the world. The project understands the film club as a school and a space of resistance, fostering exchanges between artists, researchers, neighbors, and local communities.
The initiative also includes a reference library featuring festival catalogs, specialized magazines, books, and publications on cinema. In 2025, Cinema Antena received support from the Patronato de Arte Contemporáneo (PAC), the Instituto de Artes Gráficas de Oaxaca (IAGO), and the Centro de las Artes de San Agustín (CaSa).
Carolina Fusilier (b. 1985, Buenos Aires) is a multidisciplinary artist working across film, moving image, painting, sound, performance, and installation. Her practice explores the materiality of technology, non-linear temporalities, and the entanglement of organic and mechanical bodies.
She has received support from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, The Banff Centre, ACC Cinema Fund, and Hot Docs–Netflix. Her films and moving-image works have been presented at institutions and festivals including MoMA’s Doc Fortnight, IDFA, Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival, DOK Leipzig, and the New York Film Festival, where her short film Corrientes Mercuriales (2023) premiered.
Recent solo exhibitions include IMAGO (Margot Samel, New York), Isla Eléctrica (PEANA, Mexico City), and Corrientes Mercuriales (Museo Jumex, Mexico City). Her work has also been exhibited at Museo Tamayo, Museo Anahuacalli, MALBA Puertos, Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, SculptureCenter, and The Drawing Center.
Fusilier studied at Universidad del Cine (Buenos Aires, AR) and has continued her education at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, SOMA, and Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (Programa de artistas 2011).
Miko Revereza (b. 1988, Manila) is a filmmaker whose work explores migration, displacement, and personal histories through experimental and documentary forms. His films include No Data Plan (2018), Distancing (2019), El Lado Quieto (2021), and Nowhere Near (2023).
His work has been presented at major international festivals and institutions including Locarno, TIFF, the New York Film Festival, IDFA, MoMA, the Flaherty Seminar, the Smithsonian Institution, and the National Gallery of Art. His debut feature No Data Plan received the Sheffield DocFest Art Award and was selected among Sight & Sound’s Best Films of 2019, while Nowhere Near was recognized among Film Comment’s Best Undistributed Films of 2023.
Revereza is a recipient of the Vilcek Prize for Creative Promise in Filmmaking, as well as support from the Ford Foundation and Hubert Bals Fund. He was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s New Faces of Independent Cinema and holds an MFA from Bard College.
