Pivô Boulevard presents Open Studio by resident artists Mulambö and Thaïs Zakï Tembo

On April 27, Pivô held the Open Studio of resident artists Mulambö and Thaïs Zakï Tembo.

The program featured a conversation between Mulambö and Thaïs, mediated by curator Uriel Bezerra, who accompanied the artists’ residency and creative process, connecting their trajectories, biographies, and drawing affinities between the works developed.

During the meeting, the artists addressed references, questions, and trajectories, alongside a presentation of their time in Salvador. Conversations, visits to collections, spaces across the city, connections with artists and exhibitions, as well as their own studio practice, were all part of this process.

Mulambö, in their artistic practice, articulates narratives that emerge from the histories and lived experiences of their territory, carrying the idea that “there is no museum in the world like our grandmother’s house.” Learn more about the artist and their works.

Thaïs Zakï Tembo investigates the body, territory, mining, water, and historical memory from a critical and situated perspective. A Pindorafrican writer and researcher, her practice is centered on sculpture, performance, video, and writing. Learn more about the artist and her works.

The residency is part of the Pivô Imersão 2026 program, in which the artists were selected through an open call.
