The Ocean’s Edge: new phase of the project brings artists to a residency at Cove Park, Scotland

As part of the continuation of the The Ocean’s Edge project, Brazilian artists Leticia Ramos and Licida Vidal arrive in Scotland for a two-week residency at Cove Park, from April 20 to May 3. In this new phase of The Ocean’s Edge, the artists—who have previously worked in Belém (Pará) and Ubatuba (São Paulo) over recent months—continue their research, now in dialogue with the British Atlantic Ocean.

Since 2000, Cove Park has hosted artist residencies on the west coast of Scotland, fostering exchanges with local artists through its working facilities and extensive library collection. During the residency period, Alberta Whittle, also invited to participate in the project and currently based in Scotland, will meet Leticia and Licida at the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) to engage with local scientists.

The association has provided independent marine science since 1884. Based in Oban, it is a research center dedicated to healthy, sustainably managed seas and oceans, with a focus on research, education, and public engagement.

The The Ocean’s Edge project is an international initiative developed by the Pivô (Brazil) and Invisible Dust (United Kingdom), in partnership with the TBA21–Academy, with support from the British Council and the Instituto Guimarães Rosa, within the framework of the UK–Brazil Year of Culture 2025–26.
