Pivô presents “Amigo da Onça” at SP–Arte 2025

Pivô invites you to be part of a collective support network during SP Arte 2025: “Amigo da Onça“. This initiative marks the beginning of celebrations for the institution’s 15th anniversary and highlighting its artist residency program, Pivô Research.

This action brings together 30 works by artists who, at different moments in their trajectories, found in Pivô Research a necessary space for developing their work – representing a small but significant sample of the more than 300 artists who have participated in the program throughout these 15 years.

These artists, now working in different contexts within the art system, share a common experience: all passed through Pivô at decisive moments in their careers. In a gesture of support for Pivô, they donate works to ensure that new generations have access to the same opportunities, creating a sustainable cycle of support for artistic experimentation.

The name “Amigo da Onça” is inspired by the traditional Secret Santa game, where luck determines which artwork you will take home. It is also a tribute to our first partner, Dona Onça restaurant, Pivô’s initial supporter and our neighbor in the Copan Building.

“When Pivô emerged, I immediately understood the importance of having a space for artists to experiment and develop their work in downtown São Paulo. That’s why, for 15 years, we’ve walked together, strengthening culture and signature gastronomy as forms of resistance and urban transformation,” states Janaína Torres, chef at Dona Onça.

For USD 1,500, you acquire one (1) number that entitles you to participate in the drawing for an original work by these artists. The number of tickets purchased corresponds to the number of works you will take home, and the selection of the artwork will be determined by a draw. The funds raised will be fully allocated to the residency program. This is not about speculation or conventional commercial transactions, but a collective mechanism where resources circulate within the artistic community itself, allowing knowledge and opportunities to circulate as well.

By participating in this initiative, you become part of a mutual support structure, where the artistic community itself creates means for its continuity and development. Each contribution converts into time, space, and resources for artists to develop their research with autonomy.

The artworks will be exhibited throughout SP–Arte 2025, and also available on the initiative’s website [pivo.org.br/amigo-da-onca], allowing you to see each piece before the drawing, which will take place in a collective ceremony on the fair’s last day.

Join this solidarity network that strengthens the Brazilian artistic fabric and take home a work that represents a shared commitment to the future of contemporary art. Numbers are limited.
