Pivô Boulevard Holds Open Studio with Artist Jamires Martins
Concluding her artistic residency period, Pivô Boulevard presents the Open Studio of Jamires Martins on May 27. The event offers the public an opportunity to closely engage with the processes of the artist from Piauí, whose practice articulates narratives around the memory of territories shaped by water and forests, and the connections between the capitals of Piauí and Bahia.
With the space open from 5pm to 9pm, Jamires will take part, at 7pm, in a conversation mediated by Janaina Selva, a visual arts curator who has accompanied the artist throughout her residency, marked by experimentations and articulations in Salvador.
“Jamires has an artistic practice deeply connected to territory, its people, beings, knowledge systems, and waters. It is beautiful to see Jamires bringing geographies closer together. Teresina and Salvador, relatively distant cities, meet through her studies of pigments made from clay brought from Piauí, her investigations into discarded plastic, and her attentive and wise observation of the plants and herbs found throughout the spaces of Salvador and its surroundings,” highlights Janaina.
The kitchen activation will be hosted by Ana Paula de São Tomé de Paripe.
Jamires’s residency, selected through the Conexão modality of the 2026 Open Call, takes place through a bilateral partnership with CAMPO Arte Contemporânea (Teresina/Piauí), simultaneously hosting and sending artists to each institution’s residency programs.
The Pivô Conexão modality aims to expand Pivô Salvador’s institutional network and strengthen exchanges with artistic production from other territories, enabling resident participants to develop broader research into artistic practices in Brazil.
