Pivô Boulevard Hosts Open Studio with Carolina Fusilier and Miko Revereza
On August 21st, resident artists Carolina Fusilier and Miko Revereza opened their studio at Pivô Boulevard to share with the public the processes developed during their artistic residency in Salvador.
The event presented developments from their research project The Palm Tree That Grew Out of Concrete, an experimental documentary that investigates the relationships between modern architecture, memory, and imaginaries of the future in South America.
Throughout their residency, the artists expanded the initial project into distinct and independent lines of research. Carolina Fusilier focused on the Centro Administrativo da Bahia (CAB) and its surrounding landscape, investigating relationships between structures of power, technological infrastructures, and the presence of the forest through conversations with biologists, CAB workers, and residents of Sussuarana.
Miko Revereza, in turn, began by constructing diagrams with steel wires to develop a series of transformations between map, city, game, and border, incorporating sculptural and performative elements into his investigation of displacement and belonging.
The event featured a conversation between the artists and curator Janaina Selva, who accompanied the duo’s processes throughout the residency.
