Pivô Holds Closing Program for the Residencies of Anna Pasco Bolta and Lídia Sá at LINA Cozinha

On August 25, Pivô held the public closing program for the residencies of Anna Pasco Bolta and Lídia Sá, bringing together, at the LINA Cozinha project space in the Barra neighborhood, the research paths developed by the two residents over the previous weeks.

Although they began with distinct investigations and unfolded through different processes, journeys, and encounters, the two residencies converged around food and collective eating as spaces for thinking, practice, and relationships. The program brought together an open house, a happening, a conversation, and a kitchen activation.

During her residency, carried out through a partnership between Pivô and Hangar, an artistic production and research center in Barcelona, with the support of the Ramon Llull Institute, Anna Pasco Bolta continued her investigation into the construction of sensitive, ethical, and speculative relationships with that which remains unknown or escapes our habitual regimes of perception. From an ecological and relational perspective, her research took symbiosis as a framework for thinking about forms of coexistence among species, materials, and environments, also shaped by the asymmetries and interdependencies between the Global North and Global South.

In Salvador, the artist visited fairs, markets, streets, museums, and the Botanical Garden, bringing together situated observation, stories, flavors, material experiments, and documentary research. At the closing program, Anna presented a three-act happening, shifting some of the questions and experiences gathered throughout this journey into a shared performative situation.

Lídia Sá’s residency, carried out in partnership with the LINA Cozinha project, took as its starting point the notes produced by Lina Bo Bardi on the production of popular art in the interior of Bahia between the 1950s and 1960s. The research revisited itineraries through the Recôncavo region through the lens of food, bringing foodways into dialogue with the knowledge, craft practices, landscapes, and forms of life observed by Lina.

As part of the closing program, Lídia shared aspects of the research carried out during these journeys and activated the kitchen through the encounters, ingredients, and questions that shaped her process, offering the public an experience connected to the investigation developed throughout the residency.

Between the two actions, Marcelo Terça-Nada led a conversation with the residents, bringing their different research processes into dialogue and opening the discussion to the public.
