Pivô marks the third year of the Presente para Oxum e Iemanjá tradition with celebration and procession
For the third consecutive year, Pivô Salvador held the traditional Presente para Oxum e Iemanjá on Sunday, February 1. On a day of cultural expression filled with tributes, faith, and celebration, more than 260 people passed through Pivô, offering gifts in the balaios for the queens of fresh and salt waters.
The program was divided into three acts. At 12 pm, Chef Joceval Santos began the collective preparation of the balaios and activated the kitchen, serving Seafood Rice and Vegetable Rice. Throughout the afternoon, the musical program featured DJ André Oliveira, from Barulhinho Bom, and Ítalo Pereira, lead singer of Omo Oba, accompanied by the Alabês. Drinks were curated by Lua Menezes.
Around 4 pm, the procession set off toward the Dique do Tororó for the delivery of Oxum’s offering, led by the rhythms of the Alabês. After the offering to Oxum, the celebration continued with the delivery of the gift to Iemanjá in Rio Vermelho, at the beginning of the evening.
Pivô thanks everyone who joined us for another edition of the Presente para Oxum e Iemanjá. Special thanks also go to the City of Salvador, through the Centro-Brotas District City Hall, Transalvador, and SEDUR. The event received institutional support from the Secretariat of Sustainability, Resilience, Well-being, and Animal Protection (SECIS).
