Pivô Salvador and MAC_BAHIA launch “Creative Lab: Art and Technology in the Museum”
Pivô Salvador and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Bahia (MAC_BAHIA) announce the launch of the “Creative Lab: Art and Technology in the Museum”, an initiative focused on training young people and adults in the field of the creative economy, with an emphasis on inclusion and the strengthening of local culture. The project offers four free courses exploring the intersections between artistic practices and digital technologies.
Starting in August 2025 and running through June 2026, the program is structured in four independent modules: “Videomapping: Moving Image and Immersive Spaces”; “Game Design: Narratives and Interactivity”; “3D Modeling and Accessibility in Art”; and “Artistic and Audiovisual Installations.” Each module lasts two months, with in-person classes twice a week, always from 5 PM to 8 PM, held at MAC_BAHIA, in the Graça neighborhood of Salvador. At the end of each module, participants will receive a certificate and present the projects developed during the course in an exhibition at the museum.
Each cohort will have 15 seats available for individuals aged 18 and over, selected through an open call. There will be reserved spots for women, Black individuals, and members of the LGBTQIAPN+ community – based on self-identification – promoting inclusion and diversity in training. If the reserved spots are not filled, they will be offered to the general pool of applicants.
According to Carolina de Sá, Institutional Director at Pivô, the Lab was born out of a commitment to fostering the creative economy as a driver of social transformation. “We aim to offer consistent and inclusive introductory training that encourages experimental thinking and expands professional possibilities for those working or aspiring to work with art, culture, and technology,” she says.
Applications for the first module, “Videomapping: Moving Image and Immersive Spaces,” are open until July 27 via the application form.
This project was selected through the Aldir Blanc Bahia National Policy public calls and is financially supported by the Government of the State of Bahia, through the State Department of Culture and PNAB, directed by the Ministry of Culture – Federal Government.
