Cinema Session at Pivô Boulevard: Screening of “El Lado Quieto” by Carolina Fusilier and Miko Revereza
On Friday, July 24, at 7 pm, Pivô Boulevard hosts a film screening featuring El Lado Quieto (2021, 70 min), directed by artists Carolina Fusilier and Miko Revereza, current residents of the space.
The screening takes place in the Pivô Boulevard studio and establishes a connection between Pivô and Cinema Antena, a community cinema project founded by the artists in San Agustín Etla (Oaxaca, Mexico), dedicated to creating spaces for gathering, reflection, and the circulation of film productions.
In El Lado Quieto, a marine creature emerges after traveling along an ocean current from the Philippines to the Mexican Pacific coast — the same route that once carried Spanish galleons to the region. The film explores the landscape of Capaluco, an island that was once a busy tourist destination and is now abandoned by human presence, investigating its ruins through the sounds that continue to echo from its loudspeakers.
Moving between documentary and science fiction, the film questions the models of development that have transformed Latin American territories and the socioeconomic structures that sustain the exploitation of landscapes and other forms of life, while imagining possible futures for these spaces in decay.
Created by Fusilier and Revereza, Cinema Antena operates from a microcinema in Oaxaca, hosting weekly screenings and guest-curated programs that bring together works from Latin America, Southeast Asia, and other regions of the world. The project understands the film club as a school and a space of resistance, fostering exchanges between artists, researchers, neighbors, and local communities.
The initiative also includes a reference library featuring festival catalogs, specialized magazines, books, and publications on cinema. In 2025, Cinema Antena received support from the Patronato de Arte Contemporáneo (PAC), the Instituto de Artes Gráficas de Oaxaca (IAGO), and the Centro de las Artes de San Agustín (CaSa).
