Bárbara Milano

1987, São Paulo

Fruit of black, white and the ancestor of Pindorama land, Xucuru people. Born in Piracicaba where a river flows. She lives in São Paulo and produces from the city and itinerancy. The seaming among different languages challenges the form - from the body as an act [performativity] to photography as a silent record. The themes of the work often approach issues of identity; ancestry; spirituality and gender. Her body is the support of immaterial experiences. She is currently a Master's student in Arts at UNESP-SP with the project RITUAL PHOTOGRAPHY; Researcher in the research group cAt (science / art / technology) IA-Unesp / CNPq; Resident of the Art Media studio (photography) through the LOTE program. And she is part of the national collective TROVOA, participating in the Viewing Room SP-Art and SP-Photo 2020. The same year she joined the collective Compensation Zones 7.0 (online), in partnership with the Universities of Granada (ESP) and Luxembourg (LUX). In 2021 she had her first solo exhibition: MOTHERING, at Oficina Cultural Alfredo Volpi (São Paulo). Other collective exhibitions: Lavra 2020 and 2019, with the work MOTHER, at the Municipal Art Center Hélio Oiticica (Rio de Janeiro). In 2018, she participated in the NINE and Demolition Incorporated residences at CAMPO Arte Contemporânea (Teresina), where she performed the performance BATE-FOLHA.   www.barbaramilano.art @estudioimaterial
