Elian Chali is an artist and activist within the collective of people with disabilities. His practices range from expanded painting, photography, and writing to social activism and community projects.
With four solo exhibitions and numerous collective showcases, his projects can be found in countries such as Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, Costa Rica, Chile, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Paraguay, Peru, Russia, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Ukraine, Taiwan, among others.
His recent research addresses the politics of body representation in culture and society, sexual liberation, and unique forms of survival in urban contexts within crip studies.
He has published “Hábitat” (2016), “Barrio Muerto” (2018), “Interín, Desvaríos sobre la cultura pre, durante y ¿post? pandemia” (2020), and “Nadie sabe lo que puede un cuerpo que no puede” (2022).
As an activist within the PWD collective, he is part of “Torceduras&Bifurcaciones,” a forum for political embodiments. He also resides in “Hotel Inminente,” adheres to AVAA, and participates in social organizations that scrutinize institutional violence in its various dimensions.
