1994, lives and works at Zurich, Switzerland
Eva Ruof is an architect and researcher. She holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from ETH Zurich, where she also worked as a research assistant, and previously studied at TU Munich and PUC-Rio. She was also part of the architecture studio Bruther. Her practice investigates spaces of physical gathering and their role in the emergence and maintenance of a democratic political body—particularly within the current urban context, shaped by privatization and the commodification of the city. She has explored these issues through institutional environments such as parliamentary assemblies, including the European Parliament, and now expands and contrasts this investigation through the residency BODIES IN ECSTATIC ACTION – new tools for instant city making.
Her current focus lies on non-institutional agents and their spatial practices, particularly in São Paulo, where an active resistance scene has been occupying neglected areas of the city center. Interested in the temporary reappropriation of space by multilingual collectives—especially at night—Eva seeks to connect with these local actors, whom she sees as key to developing new tools for an immediate and collective urban experience. Her work unfolds through visual media, spatial installations, and performative experiments.
