LAST UPDATE:
Jasi Pereira

A Brazilian artist born in the outskirts of Salvador, Bahia. Her immersion in the world of art began at an early age, under the guidance of her uncle, Hélio Pereira de Almeida, a self-taught artist, and later continued with technical studies in architectural drawing. Influenced by her maternal family, particularly her uncle, brother of her mother D. Laurinha, and her experiences in the periphery of Salvador, as well as numerous travels to countries across Latin America, Europe, and Asia, Jasi developed her aesthetic and technical research, becoming a multidisciplinary artist.

In Santa Fe, Argentina, she worked with visual artist and architect Sara Silvina Iturraspe and ceramist Raul Cerda on various projects, where she was introduced to the passion for clay. In Ukraine, alongside a group of students from the Lviv Academy of Fine Arts, she deepened her studies on form and observational drawing. There, she also discovered Byzantine culture and the ancient coloristics of iconographic art. In Poland, she continued her ceramic studies at the Ceramiq School in Warsaw, where she had the opportunity to develop unique techniques with various materials, including porcelain.

During her time in Europe, the artist participated in collective exhibitions, residencies, and taught courses at museums, schools, and NGOs, working with young people, children, and those at risk. Upon returning to Brazil, Jasi focused on visual arts projects, creating Afro-centered research and contributing to the democratization of Brazilian culture, winning awards for some of her works. She currently lives in Salvador, Bahia, and is pursuing a degree in Visual Arts at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA).
