João Victor Guimarães

João Victor Guimarães is a Visual Arts critic, researcher, and curator. A student of Arts at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), he recently contributed to the founding of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Bahia, where he worked as an assistant curator. He has also held the same position at the National Museum of Afro-Brazilian Culture (MUNCAB). As an art critic, he collaborates with three of the most important arts magazines in Brazil: Select, DASArtes, and Bravo!. Internationally, he contributes to Umbigo Magazine. Currently, he is the curator of the exhibition Ecos Malês at Casa das Histórias de Salvador, which was voted the second-best group exhibition in Brazil in 2024 by public vote.
