John Fletcher Couston Junior (1980, Belém, Pará, Brazil) is a tenured professor at the Faculty of Visual Arts (ICA/FAV/UFPA) and at the Graduate Program in Cultural Heritage Sciences (PPGPATRI/UFPA). He holds a PhD in Anthropology from UFPA, with a research fellowship at Universidad del Cauca in Popayán, Colombia (2015), and a master’s degree in Arts from UFPA. He served as Coordinator of the Visual Arts Programs at UFPA (2019–2021) and as Director of the Faculty of Visual Arts (2021–2023). His research focuses on contemporary art and curatorial practices in the Amazon regions. He is a member of Associação Fotoativa and the Brazilian Association of Art Critics (ABCA). He was awarded the Professor Benedito Nunes Doctoral Thesis Prize (2019) and the Gilda de Mello e Souza Prize (2024).
