lives and works at Salvador, Bahia

José Eduardo Ferreira Santos holds a degree in Pedagogy from the Catholic University of Salvador, a master’s degree in Psychology from the Federal University of Bahia, and a PhD in Public Health from UFBA. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Contemporary Culture at the Advanced Program in Contemporary Culture (PACC/UFRJ), in addition to postdoctoral research at UFBA and UCSal.

Artist, researcher, writer, and curator, he is the founder, alongside Vilma Santos, of Acervo da Laje, a cultural space located in Salvador’s Railway Suburb that brings together an extensive artistic, documentary, and bibliographic collection dedicated to the aesthetic productions, memories, and ways of life of the city’s peripheries.

He is the author of several books and curator of important exhibitions in Brazil. As an artist, known as Zé di Cabeça, he develops research on memory, heritage, everyday life, art, and popular culture.
