1972, lives and works at São Paulo, Brazil

Julio de Paula works with documentation mechanisms, particularly those related to traditional culture. A radio artist, he is interested in recording and displacing Latin American soundscapes. He is a program director at Rádio Cultura FM, where he developed his original program Veredas – Música e Tradição Popular no Brasil (2001 to 2012), which won an award at the VI International Radio Biennial in Mexico (2006). His piece SP Microkosmos (2004) is part of the collection of the Museum of Image and Sound – MIS/SP. He was a sound editing professor in the Radio and TV course at Faculdade Cásper Líbero (2005-2013).

In 2012, he presented Edgard, a radio performance for Mobile Radio BSP (30th São Paulo Biennial). In 2015, he created the piece El Sur es el Norte for Kunstradio – Radiokunst (Austria), which was later rebroadcast by Radio Documenta 14 – Every Time A Ear di Soun (2017). In his research, he seeks a point of contact between radio and visual arts, a concept he refers to as expanded radio
