Maria Macêdo ( Quitaiús, Lavras da Mangabeira, Ceará, 1996) Is a visual artist, educator, researcher, performer, and singer. In addition, she has a BA degree in Visual Arts from the Regional University of Cariri (2019), and she is a researcher in the project “Yabarte – gestational processes in contemporary art from black feminine thoughts and doings”, and co-leader of the research group “Novos ziriguiduns (inter)nacional gerados na arte” (Nzinga). She was selected for the 31st Programa de Exposições do Centro Cultural São Paulo, and she was part of the 7th edition of the Laboratório de Artes Visuais Porto Iracema das Artes (2020/2021), besides that she worked on the educational curatorship of the 15th Naifs Biennial of Brazil, SESC Piracicaba/SP.
She is part of the collectives: Karetas Artivist with Prekito; Coletivo Cantando Marias (2019); Iamís Kariris; Pretes Terreira. Evoking the ancestral and fictional force of life in the countryside, she finds in her experiences on the land the path that guides her artistic making as a farmer artist who fertilizes images.
The artist has participated in Pivô Pesquisa 2023.
