Milko Delgado

1995, lives and works at Panama City, Panama

Milko Delgado is a transdisciplinary Panamanian artist. He identifies as a cueco (cuir) man—mixed-race, with rural, popular, and working-class roots—an identity that informs his entire practice. His work articulates visual arts, video, performance, pedagogy, and cultural management, exploring the intersections between body and nature as a framework to reflect on identity, coloniality, extractivism, health, pleasure, and community. He holds a specialization in Creative Production and New Media from the International School of Cinema and Television (EICTV) in Cuba and studied Visual Arts at the University of Panama.

He is a founding member and current coordinator of the cultural platform La Búsqueda. His work has been presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Panama, Teorética (Costa Rica), Fresh Milk (Barbados), the Latin American Art Triennial of New York, and the Center for Visual Arts (Denver). His pieces are also part of collections such as the Mercantil Collection and the MAC Panamá.
*Cueco: a Panamanian slang term historically used in a derogatory way to refer to homosexual individuals—reclaimed by the artist as an affirmation of identity.
