In 2019 he received a Research Grant from the Kone Foundation to develop his project at the Saari Residence in Mynämäki (Finland) during january and february 2020. He was contemplated with a monthly allowance from the municipality of Sandnes and County of Rogaland (Norway) for the Artist-in-Residence Sandnes in 2019. He was a resident at Nida Art Colony in 2018, with the support of the University of Vilnius and the project partly funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania. Between 2015 and 2017, he was professor of Visual Arts at the Pontifical University of Campinas (Brazil) teaching Photography, Drawing and Orientation in Final Year Project. He studied ‘Advanced Studies Program in Photography’ at Ateliê Fotô (São Paulo), coordinated by curator and critic Eder Chiodetto. Hurpia holds a Master’s degree in Visual Arts from Unicamp. In 2001 he completed his Bachelor of Visual Arts at the same university.
