Raphaela Melsohn is an artist, with a BFA in Visual Arts from FAAP (’16), and currently enrolled in the Visual Arts program at Columbia University (’21). In recent works she investigates the erotic and sensual qualities of different materials, prosthesis and gestures. Among others, her exhibitions include the solo “investigations in VIDEO: register, displacement of view and WAYS OF THINKING” by Temporada de Projetos 2016 do Paço das Artes (MIS, São Paulo, 2016) and “Wearing a trap” (casamata, Rio de Janeiro, 2016), and the group shows “RECIPES FOR B_R_Z_L?” (Spring Break Art Show, New York, 2019), and “Biblioteca: Floresta” (MARP, Ribeirão Preto, 2018). Recently, she was a resident artist at AnnexB (Brooklyn, 2018), where she presented the work “Collection of gestures”, and a resident at the Red Gate Residency (Beijing, 2016), where she developed actions that explored drawing as communication and translation procedures.pivô
