LAST UPDATE:
Vanessa Orewá

lives and works at Salvador, Bahia

I am a teacher and writer. I believe in the potential of encounters and the manifestation of art. I see writing as a possibility for life, a narrative through which a way of existing is shaped, and collage as a path for reassembling colonial disintegration. I am the founder of the Apaoká Ciência Preta project. I am a PhD candidate in Teaching, Philosophy, and History of Science at the Federal University of Bahia. I served as Head of Education and CPO at Obará Edutech.

An enthusiast of the cultural movement in the Recôncavo region of Bahia, I promote projects focused on Intangible Cultural Heritage. I am a co-founder of the Axé Eyin Women’s Center, a Decolonial Researcher, and, in my teaching practice, I employ a critical approach to the production of scientific knowledge. I hold a Master’s degree in African History, the Diaspora, and Indigenous Peoples from the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia, with pioneering research on the Caretas do Mingau. I am also an honorary doctorate recipient from the Order of Chaplains of Brazil and Febraica.
