Pivô Satélite #6 no ar
Frame de ‘Viriandeua-Virianduba’, por Ramon Reis.

Today we launched the new edition of Pivô Satellite, an exhibition space within the Pivô website. Created in 2020, the platform has undergone restructuring with the aim of expanding the reach of the project, bringing in new discussions and partnerships. In 2023, the project will focus on commissioning videos by artists and will have an annual production character, divided into two presentation moments – between the first and second semesters.

For the curatorial team of Satellite 2023, Pivô invites UV Studios (Argentina) and Arte Pará (Brazil), two important institutions in the Latin American scene. The first artists to occupy the platform are Ramon Reis (BR) and the duo Emilio Bianchic (UY) and Florencia Rodriguez Giles (AR).

The released films are:

  • Part 1 of ‘Viriandeua-Virianduba’ by Ramon Reis [Part 2 will be released in the coming months].

“Based on paths traced in individual experience, ancestry has signaled the discourse that is present both in Corpo (In)Finito? – Prologue [Insurgencies] and in the essay Viriandeua-Virianduba, presented in Pivô Satellite, which brings Ramon’s body-territory constituted by established bonds in the Atlantic Amazon, in the city of Salinópolis, his hometown, which is approximately 210 kilometers away from the capital, Belém, in Pará,” excerpt from Vânia Leal, curator of Arte Pará.

  • ‘Ronquidos Oceánicos II Insomnia’ by Florencia Rodriguez Giles and Emilio Bianchic.

“Ronquidos Oceánicos is a project that started in 2017, conceived by Florencia Rodriguez Giles and Emilio Bianchic, with the intention of exploring the underwater world and its connections with the unconscious. The first experience was filming under the Red Sea, and the result was presented during the Buenos Aires Performance Biennial in 2019. […]

In 2022, they were invited by the Palm Heights Residency to visit the Cayman Islands to continue the project. The trip gave rise to Ronquidos Oceánicos II Insomnia, presented at Pivô Satellite. In this second episode, the sensations intensify in the manner of a fictional horror documentary,” writes curator Violeta Mansilla from UV Studios.
