lines in the landscape, a concrete body, the reading of the flags in the air as signs that want to reinvent themselves. the silence-urucum, the image of hands in the plasticity of gestures. possible gestures for impossible days. the image of the roofs, the city inside the house. mata-olho sews time.

Inspired by Achille Mbembe’s Critique of Black Reason, in which the Cameroonian philosopher focuses on the creation of race as a ghost in the 21st century, reflecting on the concepts attributed to the term black as its own “personified shadow”. In the video, the artist moves in the space between the rocks and the sea of Salvador holding prints of his body made earlier in the performance Dermogravuras de Um Corpo Presente.

Spiraling in times where our dark lives are on the run from extinction. Mandioca y Inhame (manioc and yam) remind us of the people who grow them without a fence. It is a message to remember the future.
