WORKSHOP: I Try My Tongue collective vocal activation accompanied by a guitarist and a bassist

This workshop is held by PRICE and is for humans who have experienced structural, systematic oppression in having a voice. Humans would like to enter the state of having a voice outside of having to make sense in this world. For humans who would like to enter a state of listening without direction or words. No musical or vocal knowledge is required. In reaction to the gesture of decomposing the symbolics of the smell of a rose, I would like to hold a workshop where vocal language has been destabilized in the production of its meaning. A space where we explore melodic, (harmonic and dissonant) meanings beyond words through a collective improvisation sound choir were listening while producing sound through voice is experienced. We shouldn’t take for granted that everyone has a voice, and receives space for their own voice. It is an act of freedom that needs to be practiced. What makes one speak? What is in relation to speaking out? What are the values of words today? In my vocal practice, I purposefully test words (English words) as a lyrical medium, gently dissolving the shape of the phonics until an elegant ambiguity creeps into words as an act of provocation against the international hegemony of the language. Deliberately avoiding the literal. I wish to leave wide open for subjective interpretation, posing questions for each listener to answer differently oneself.
