The selection process for Pivô Pesquisa 2023 revealed a series of issues that have mobilized the thought and practice of different art agents in contemporary times. This process brought us into contact with the richness and diversity of current artistic production, despite the lack of support in terms of public policies for the Visual Arts field. We came across investigations that find paths and invent ways to respond to our times – understanding the particularities of each territory, splits, histories, debts, and fiction.
The jury, composed of curators and researchers Eduardo Carrera (EC), Ericka Florez Hidalgo (CO), Fernanda Pitta (BR), Igor Simões (BR), and Ana Roman (BR) and Mônica Hoff (BR), respectively, curator of Pivô and coordinator of Pivô Pesquisa 2023, strove to gather a representative group of artists, researchers, educators, and different art agents, taking into account the proposals presented for the program and the relevance/quality of their research, as well as the diversity of identities, national and international, of ethno-racial origins, gender, regionality, and social and cultural context.
