The Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection (CPPC) and Pivô are pleased to announce the winners of Pivô Pesquisa Programme’s CPPC Artist Fellowship at Pivô: Venezuelan artists Fabio Bonfati and Raily Yance.

The CPPC Artist Fellowship at Pivô encourages the exchange between artistic communities by introducing the winning artists to the local cultural scene, promoting open exchange and a deeper engagement with the city of São Paulo. In November 2014, Bonfati and Yance will be welcomed by the Pivô Pesquisa team and will enjoy a shared studio space at the institution’s headquarters at Copan.

Pivô Pesquisa’s public programmes are aimed at establishing interdisciplinary and experimental partnerships, both nationally and internationally. The goal is to contribute towards the development of art and its significance to society, within the diverse realities that make up the spheres of contemporary production. In this context, the partnership with CPPC further strengthens this initiative by helping to consolidate a network of interactions by connecting the artistic communities in Brazil and Venezuela and at the same time encouraging the professional development of young artists.

About the artists:

Fabio Bonfati and Raily Yance work with structures and installations that appropriate everyday objects in order to reveal mechanisms of social and collaborative interactions. The duo was selected for the residency with the artwork Tren (2014) in the context of XVII salón Banesco jóvenes conFIA, an exhibition of young Venezuelan artists.

Duo’s Mini Bio

The duo is formed by Venezuelan artists Fabio Bonfanti (Maracaibo, Venezuela, 1990) and Raily Yance (Maraciabo, Venezuela, 1989), who studied side-by-side at the Faculdade Experimental de Arte (Feda), of the Universidade de Zulia. The artists have worked together from the outset of their careers and have also had solo exhibitions at the Museu de Artes Gráficas ‘Luis Chacon’ and in the art space ‘Al Borde’.
