It is with joy that Pivô Salvador opens its activities for 2024 by welcoming, as the first resident of the year, the artist Lais Amaral from 01/10/2024 to 02/10/2024.
Originally from São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro, Lais is a craftsperson-artist graduated in Social Work from the Federal Fluminense University (UFF), where she began her research on the effects of environmental collapse in contemporary times, comparing the contexts of environmental desertification to the project of whitening the population, nature, and organization of life in its subjective and spiritual dimensions. The artist names the act of painting as “leaking,” in an attempt to reference the movements of nature and to moisten the forms of existence. This experience is directly linked to the mysteries and apprehension of the sensitive reality that permeates memory and time.
